CEI Bytes | Reality Composer

Part 1 of this Apple Professional Learning session showcased how Reality Composer turns an iPhone Pro or iPad Pro into a rapid “field-to-studio” tool for education. The demonstration began with a quick look at the devices’ built-in LiDAR scanner and its role in capturing precise depth data for augmented-reality projects. A hand-painted Mexican skull was then scanned on the spot, imported into Reality Composer.

The segment introduced the concept of digital twins and outlined how the resulting USDZ file can support lessons in subjects as varied as archaeology, interior design, physics, and marketing. Participants were invited to download the USDZ model via QR code and place the life-size skull in their own environment, giving them a first-hand taste of collaborative AR without any coding or specialised hardware.
